After having worked in Germany for more than one decade (1998 to 2012), Prof. Xin Guo joined Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2012, and founded the Laboratory of Solid State Ionics from scratch; the vision of the lab is: “Solid State Ionics for information, energy and environment applications”. In crystals, there exist defects of different dimensions, i.e. point defects (0 D), dislocations (1 D) and grain boundaries (2 D); the abundant presence of defects makes the properties of materials deviate substantially from those of ideal crystals, by engineering defects on multiple scales, one can manipulate many material properties. Based on the defect engineering, we are currently working in the following three fields: Neuromorphic systems & A.I., solid electrolytes & solid-state batteries, gas sensors & artificial olfactory. Click the laboratory video to learn about us!
